PAIS retains a representative in Harrisburg who is responsible for monitoring legislation, determining its probable effect on PAIS member schools, and informing the Executive Committee, through the Executive Director, of the status of such legislation. PAIS coordinates regular communication among the representative, the Executive Director, and representatives from the Pennsylvania Division of Nonpublic and Private School Services and the Catholic Conference. The Association reviews current legislation, determines its possible impact on independent schools, and designs a strategy if needed.
When appropriate and/or necessary, the Executive Director informs the membership of pertinent legislation.
The Executive Director also serves as a liaison and an advocate for member schools with state agencies on matters such as applicable state codes and regulations.
