                   Meet PA Governor

PAIS Executive Director Linda Phelps and Board Member Pat Hennessy spent time discussing educational issues with Pennsylvania Governor Tom Corbett during a luncheon sponsored by Conrad O’Brien PC at The Union League in Philadelphia. Education is the Governor’s #1 priority in his 2014-2015 budget. EITC and OTSC will remain in the Governor’s education budget for the coming year. He shared his belief that Common Core Standards are important to standardizing the effectiveness of public education. Governor Corbett supports STEM-related academic programs, which, he believes, are the key to growing jobs of the future and is creating the Ready to Succeed Scholarship program to make post secondary educational opportunities more affordable to middle-income Pennsylvania families – enabling students to pursue two-year or four-year post secondary degrees at any Pennsylvania college or university.
