Director of Learning & Innovation
Employment Type: Part-Time up to 32 hours

Pennsylvania Association of Independent Schools (PAIS) is the state association serving over 125 independent schools across the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and in Delaware. Our diverse membership includes single sex and coed schools, religiously affiliated schools, schools for children with learning differences, small and large day and boarding schools. PAIS offers services which strengthen member schools, including collaborative dialogues on important school issues, professional development programs, vital communication on governmental affairs as well as advocacy, and a rigorous accreditation process. The PAIS accreditation process efficiently ensures compliance to vital standards, while also enabling a school to focus on a plan for its strategic future in such areas as student learning, diversity, equity and inclusion, social and emotional learning, and community engagement.

This inaugural role at PAIS provides an excellent opportunity for the successful candidate to identify opportunities to leverage data for improved member services and programs, and contribute to work that directly impacts our team and member community. This role is ideal for someone who can move research-backed ideas from theory to action. The position reports directly to the Executive Director and works closely with a small team to deliver high-quality service to the PAIS membership and advocate for the larger educational industry.

Stay abreast of the latest challenges and opportunities within independent education and in the industries that impact the learning ecosystem.

Identify thought leaders in these areas to facilitate learning.

Facilitate group dialogue.

Evaluate and implement new platforms and channels for professional learning.

Curate and communicate regional data through a clear storytelling lens, helping member schools see themselves in the broader landscape and draw meaning from what they find.

Recommend, socialize, and implement organizational and programmatic improvements that enable PAIS to better track, utilize, share, and respond to schools' data and regional/national trends and risks.

Create clear, compelling stories with visualizations on industry trends, program strengths, accreditation trends and member highlights for internal and external audiences.

Identify opportunities for research projects and implement initiatives including design, data collection, analysis, and presentation of findings.

Develop infographics and one-page summaries of research findings for diverse stakeholders.

Serve as a PAIS ambassador at events.
The role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, technological proficiency, and the ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously while providing timely, clear, and welcoming customer service to our members.

A minimum of seven years’ experience in education, preferably teaching in an independent school.

An ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.

Excellent writing/editing and verbal communication skills to both technical and non-technical audiences, in writing, in formal presentations and informal dialogues.

Demonstrated ability to maintain a consistent organizational voice across communications — writing with brand awareness and an eye toward the larger mission and narrative arc.

Classroom and/or group facilitation experience.

A collaborative working style.

Strong aptitude for technology and systems.

Curiosity about new tools and technologies.

Ability to synthesize complex information into accessible insights for members and stakeholders.

Extraordinary organization skills and attention to detail with an ability to multitask and prioritize projects.
