PAIS New Heads Cohort


PAIS is partnering with Alan Sparrow, a former head of school, to offer a unique program through the generosity of the E.E. Ford Foundation.  The New Heads Cohort will meet monthly online. Participants will have access to executive coaching and a cohort program available to new heads at no cost to your school thanks to the grant funding. See below for the program dates.

  • Wednesday August 5 | 11:00am - 12:00pm
    Welcome, summary of the program, and discussion of a case study.
  • Wednesday September 9 | 11:00am - 12:00pm
    Review of the opening of school and topics you would like to discuss.
  • Wednesday October 14 | 11:00am - 12:00pm
    Presentation on how to develop a high functioning board of trustees.
  • Wednesday November 11 | 11:00am - 12:00pm
    Topics of your choice and a short presentation and discussion of how to develop an effective head’s evaluation with your board chair.
  • Wednesday December 9 | 11:00am - 12:00pm
    Finance 101 for new heads of school
  • Wednesday January 13 | 11:00am - 12:00pm
    Topics of your choice and a presentation on a model of how to have a difficult conversation with employees, parents, or board members. Exercise on using the model.
  • Wednesday February 10 | 11:00am - 12:00pm
    Review of the first half year of your headship and topics of your choice.
  • Wednesday March 10 | 11:00am - 12:00pm
    Leading the small school
  • Wednesday April 14 | 11:00am - 12:00pm
    Topics of your choice and presentation on the head’s role in DEIB work at your school with case studies.
